Ford is planning to unleash its seventh-generation Ford Mustang within the next few years, and it might have a new trick up its sleeve. The next-gen Mustang could get an all-new Windsor V8, according to the head of Canada’s auto labor union.
After negotiating a new deal between his organization and Ford of Canada, Unifor President Jerry Dias revealed that the Windsor Engine plant will build a new 6.X-liter engine. He later spoke with the media and said he believes this engine will be a 6.8-liter V8 offered in the F-150 and Mustang.
According to Hagerty’s Sajeev Mehta, this could be a “de-stroked 7.3 Godzilla,” referring to the enormous pushrod 7.3-liter V8 offered with the new Super Duty. He suggests this would use aluminum rather than an iron block and overhead valves in place of overhead cams. In practical terms? This new Windsor V8 for the next-generation Mustang could be an absolute beast.
We have a while to wait before we figure out what’s in store. Ford will continue to make the current, sixth-generation Mustang through 2022, so there are still a few more years to enjoy the latest version of our beloved pony.
And it’s still going strong, too. Not only is the Shelby GT500 the most powerful street-legal car Ford has ever made, but the legendary automaker is bringing back the iconic Mustang Mach 1 in spring of 2021. Ford is also growing the Mustang stable with the Mach-E, the all-electric performance SUV available now at Shults Ford.

The 2018 Ford Mustang is on its way, with a modern design and a slew of features that focus comfort and technology. However, many Ford enthusiasts are nostalgic for yesteryear. If that describes you, then you’re in luck; the new 2018 Mustang Pony Package adds design elements that reflect older models of the Ford Mustang in order to give it a more classic air while maintaining all the conveniences of owning the latest model.
Some of the changes to the design of the 2018 Ford Mustang when the Pony Package is applied include the traditional corral grille in front, an old-school tri-pony badge in the back, and a subtle stripe that runs around the sides of the Mustang. There are other changes that aren’t so much for the nostalgia as they are for completing the look – a bright beltline and window trim, 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, and floor mats embroidered with the famous Mustang logo.
The Mustang Pony Package will only be available to models with the turbocharged inline-4 engine, not the new and much-anticipated 5.0-liter V8. The 2018 Ford Mustang is slated to launch across the nation in October of this year. If you’re interested in owning the 2018 Mustang (whether equipped with the new Pony Package or not), then keep an eye on us here at Shults Ford Harmarville for more information.
When Ford employees aren’t hard at work designing and producing some of the best models on the market, they like to relax and have fun. Celebrating Take Your Child to Work Day, Ford employees at the company’s headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan recently broke the record for the largest Hot Wheels® track loop in the world.
According to Ford, the track loop measured 12-ft in height, initially designed by Ford dynamometer technician Matt West. In order to provide enough room for such a gigantic track, employees had to move to the three-story atrium located at the company’s Research and Innovation Center. The kids who participated in Take Your Child to Work Day couldn’t be more excited to see the track in action.
“It started as part-fun, part-physics lesson with my son at home,” said West. “We built one in our playroom, and then built a five-foot-tall loop in our backyard. When people at Ford heard what we were up to, everyone thought it would be a great way to get young people excited about science and engineering by trying to break the world record on Take Your Child to Work Day.”
The Ford Hot Wheels Record beat out the previous record-holder by a whopping three feet. The track isn’t just about size, though; West and other employees had to figure out how to get enough momentum to launch a small toy car around the loop.
Ford March sales numbers are in and positive increases were noted almost across the board! In fact, Ford retail sales were their best in 9 years. Leading the way for Ford was none other than the F-Series, as well as the American automaker’s Mustang and van sales.
The new F-Series posted a 10 percent sales increase in March. In addition, Ford Mustang sales increased 36 percent, marking the pony car’s best performance since 2007. The Ford Transit, Transit Connect, and E-Series had total sales of 20,821 units, accounting for a 42 percent increase in total van sales.
In a recent press release, Mark LaNeve, Ford Vice President of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service, said, “Our retail performance was driven by gains across our utility van and truck lineups with strong consumer acceptance of the all-new F-150. We are especially pleased to post our best retail March sales performance in nice years, despite tight supply across our F-series lineup.”
Ford is off to a hot start, and hopes to continue with that positive momentum going forward. Keeping customers happy by providing fun, quality vehicles is what Ford is all about. We’ve got to start off by saying this: don’t use “Mustang” as a password—for anything. As nice as it is that you would think about the car when trying to protect your privacy, it just isn’t a good password.
Okay. That being said, it is pretty flattering. But why are we bringing this up? Every year, SplashData releases a list of the top 25 most common passwords found on the internet, which—by virtue of having been found—also makes it a list of the top 25 worst passwords.
Some are perfect examples of why you shouldn’t base your passwords on the patterns of your keyboard: “11111,” “abc123,” “123456,” and “qwerty” are classic staples that reappear every year. Popular sports such as “baseball” and “football” are also common reoccurrences.
There were a few new entries this time around, including “batman” and “superman.” But the one that really caught our eye at Shults Ford of Hamarville was “mustang,” which, amazingly, was ranked higher than the two popular superheroes. So while it makes for a terrible password, its appearance on the list is pretty telling of the iconic American car’s mass appeal!

With this much power under the hood, the supercharged Mustang is sure to impress any car enthusiast.
Despite the fact the Ford Mustang is 50 years old this year, it is anything but an old geezer. The recently launched Ford ICON50 Campaign is stirring up America by encouraging people to be more adventurous. Here at Shults Ford of Harmarville we’re excited about the new campaign.
Ford reports that over 42% of American said they can’t remember the last time they tried something new. What does that mean? That people are losing their sense of adventure. Ford hopes to reverse that trend, though. The Ford Mustang is the epitome of adventure, demonstrating power and grace on the asphalt.
The Ford VP of Global Marketing, Sales and Service, Jim Farley, said, “For five decades, Mustang has represented some of the best of American popular culture, inspiring a feeling of freedom, independence and adventure. We are excited to celebrate the iconic Mustang and encourage fans to embrace its spirit of adventure and try new cultural experiences.”
The 2015 Ford Mustang features a powerful new 3.7-liter V-6 engine, which generates over 435 horsepower (nearly four times the ’64 Mustang’s V6). Drastic changes have been made to the handling and suspension, as well as the interior. For a full preview of the adventure Mustang has to offer, stop by Shults Ford of Harmarville.
All of us likely have apps on our smartphones that are, well, useless. Maybe we used them once, momentarily mesmerized by the gleam of something new, and then promptly forgot about them. Ford has recently released an app for 2015 Ford Mustang owners that will really enhance the experience of owning the classic American sports car. Unlike a lot of apps, it should prove to be very useful.
There quite a few really cool features in the app. One simply directs you to the nearest drag strip. Another will enlighten you on the ins and outs of 50 years of Mustang history. You can test your Mustang knowledge with a trivia game, or select Mustang-themed wallpaper for your phone. And of course, there are custom Mustang ringtones.
There is also a section that will act like a digital owner’s manual. In this section, you can find information on maintenance and engine specs. It’ll help you make sense of the instrument panel and answer frequently asked questions that new Mustang owners often have.
Of course, the app is no good without the accompanying Mustang. So first things first – come to Shults Ford of Harmarville and check out our sweet Mustangs today!

If you are an avid fan of drag racing, whether it’s watching or participating, then you probably already know what the Line Lock burnout feature on the new Ford Mustang will entail. For those of you that don’t, here is a little overview.
Line Lock is a system that can electronically lock the front brakes, so when you step on the gas, you can produce big, smoky burnouts that will give off the smell of burning rubber like no other. This all happens without the Mustang moving as much as an inch. The Line Lock burnout feature really isn’t that uncommon and can be seen in drag racing, like stated above, but now Ford is moving towards making it a more common feature on the everyday road.
If you have been saving every extra penny you can for the new Ford Mustang, you should probably start saving more. All that extra rubber-burning you plan on doing will wear down your tires at a much faster rate than normal. Luckily, at Shults Ford of Harmarville, we can help you out with all of you tire and other service needs!
