Earlier this spring, Ford trotted out the most exclusive versions of its hottest new vehicles for a pair of great causes. The VIN 001 Ford Bronco and Mustang Mach 1 went up on the block at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale Arizona. When the hammers fell, the duo commanded a whopping $1,575,000 — all of which went to charity.
The first production version of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 sold for $500,000 on the first night of the 021 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale. That half-million-dollar haul went to JDRF, the longtime Ford partner whose goal is finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Ford and JDRF have worked together for 35 years, and Ford has raised more than $70 million for the cause.
On Saturday, the rights to the VIN 001 2021 Ford Bronco were up for grabs. There was plenty of action among bidders, and when all was said and done, a certain lucky someone dropped $1 million on the first Ford Bronco two-door to roll off an assembly line in 25 years. All of that money will support the Bronco Wild Fund, which Ford hopes will raise $5 million for important environmental causes.
If you missed your chance to get the VIN 001 Ford Bronco two-door or Mustang Mach 1, fear not. The 2021 Mustang Mach 1 is arriving at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And the wait for the 2021 Ford Bronco is nearly at an end — it should begin arriving in our showroom this summer.
