Ford CEO Confirms Ford Bronco Hybrid

Ford announced that it’s bringing back the iconic Ford Bronco in 2018, but it’s been almost entirely silent on the rugged off-roader ever since. Though details are few and far between, we have learned one particularly juicy tidbit from the head man in charge of the Blue Oval. During a shareholder conference call this spring, Jim Hackett, Ford CEO, confirmed that there will be a Ford Bronco hybrid variant.

This new hybrid would be part of the current push for Ford to become more electric throughout its lineup over the next few years. The brand has recently invested $11 billion in creating electric variants of their vehicles through 2023.

Even with this information, we still don’t know much about the Bronco. Ford has released some teaser images that show the Bronco’s squared-off shape, but it’s been mum on everything else. There’s been rumblings about two- and four-door variants, detachable doors and a detachable roof, and the very nature of its retro design that will harken back to its past. We also have a strong indication that there will be a smaller version of the Bronco — which many people are referring to as the Baby Bronco — that may well hit the market at the same time as its larger sibling. The Bronco is expected to debut in 2020, so it may still be a few months before we get some hard facts we can sink our teeth into. One thing we do know for sure: When the 2021 Ford Bronco does (finally) arrive, you’ll be able to find it right here at Shults Ford Harmarville.
