Founded in 1903, Ford has a long history behind it — and a big future ahead of it. Its past gives us the chance to dive into its legacy and learn about how such a great company grew into the brand it is today. Here are a few fun facts about Ford from our team at Shults Ford Harmarville.
First-ever Ford vehicle
The first-ever Ford vehicle was sold in 1903. Dr. Pfennig purchased the Model A for just $850. As Ford’s first vehicle, the Model A could only go 30 mph.
Henry Ford pushed for higher wages
When workers began to express concern over their wages, Henry Ford decided to increase his employees’ wages to double the market average. He expressed his strong support of paying workers a living wage. Henry Ford said the labor industry’s “first job is to make a good product. Second, pay a good wage.”
Best-selling vehicle in America
The Ford F-Series, commonly referred to as the Ford F-150, has been America’s best selling truck for the last 40 years in a row. The full-size pickup has established name recognition across the industry and beyond since the 1970s.
