2015 Ford F-150 Earns Top Safety Pick from IIHS

The 2015 Ford F-150 is a groundbreaking pickup truck in numerous ways—from its use of segment- and industry-exclusive technologies to its aluminum-alloy body panels. Now, the F-150 breaks new ground yet again, becoming the first pickup in America to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick.

The F-150 SuperCrew earned the distinction after performing well in IIHS’ safety tests, adding to its claim of being the safest truck in America. The 2015 F-150—in SuperCrew, SuperCab, and Regular Cab configurations—also earned a five-star overall safety score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), making it the only full-size, light-dusty pickup to do so.

Ford also confirms through statistics from Assured Performance that repair costs on the 2015 F-150 are averaging about $869 less than the average for the 2014 F-150. In about 8 months on the market, there have been 337 repair estimates collected at an average of $1,476, which compares favorably to the $2,345 average across 1,238 estimates in 2014.

The longer it remains on the market, the more it becomes apparent that there is no truck capable of matching the 2015 F-150 in terms of quality, intelligence, performance, and now safety. To see why the new F-150 is the perfect fit for you, test drive one at Shults Ford of Harmarville this weekend.

Ford March Sales Post Best Performance in Nine Years

Ford March sales numbers are in and positive increases were noted almost across the board! In fact, Ford retail sales were their best in 9 years. Leading the way for Ford was none other than the F-Series, as well as the American automaker’s Mustang and van sales.

The new F-Series posted a 10 percent sales increase in March. In addition, Ford Mustang sales increased 36 percent, marking the pony car’s best performance since 2007. The Ford Transit, Transit Connect, and E-Series had total sales of 20,821 units, accounting for a 42 percent increase in total van sales.

In a recent press release, Mark LaNeve, Ford Vice President of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service, said, “Our retail performance was driven by gains across our utility van and truck lineups with strong consumer acceptance of the all-new F-150. We are especially pleased to post our best retail March sales performance in nice years, despite tight supply across our F-series lineup.”

Ford is off to a hot start, and hopes to continue with that positive momentum going forward. Keeping customers happy by providing fun, quality vehicles is what Ford is all about. New Ford Self-Driving Car Already Undergoing On-Road Testing

Many automakers have been hoping to bring fully autonomous vehicles to market by the end of the decade—and suddenly, Ford is right in the thick of that race. The brand just announced that a new Ford self-driving car, a version of the Fusion Hybrid, is already undergoing on-road testing—which gives it a pretty big head start on some other autonomous vehicles. Perhaps Ford will bring its self-driving car to market before anyone else, although that of course remains to be seen.

What doesn’t remain to be seen is Ford’s commitment to the future—a future that will inevitably include autonomous technology. “We’re already manufacturing and selling semi-autonomous vehicles that use software and sensors to steer into both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces, adjust speed based on traffic flow or apply the brakes in an emergency,” Ford CEO Mark Fields said in a statement. “There will be a Ford autonomous vehicle in the future, and we take putting one on the road very seriously.”

To learn more about the possibilities of autonomous Ford vehicles—and maybe to think about which ones would look best as autonomous vehicles—come see us here at Shults Ford of Harmarville to check out the current Ford lineup. You might have to keep your hands on the wheel for now, but with vehicles that handle this good, you won’t mind.

2015 Ford F-150 Accessories: Introducing Lightweight Campers

2015 Ford F-150 Accessories

Here at Shults Ford of Harmarville, we were glad to hear about the new partnership between Thor Livin Lite and Ford. Working together, the two companies will be making Ford-branded recreational products for the new F-150.

Ford said one of the main reasons they were drawn to Thor Livin Lite is the lightweight design of their products, like campers, for example. With the all-new aluminum F-150 design, it makes sense for the teams to work together on 2015 Ford F-150 accessories.

“I can’t tell you how excited we are to work with a company as prestigious as Ford and bring their iconic brand name back into the RV industry,” said Scott Tuttle, president of Thor Livin Lite. “Ford believes enough in our unique aluminum construction to allow us to carry the ‘Built Ford Tough’ label, which says a lot.”

Although Ford and Thor Livin Lite have been working together since 2013, this is the first time they will be developing products together. What they have in mind is a lightweight line of campers that are 30% lighter than the competition. The new products will debut before the end of the year at the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ford Uses Asia-Pacific Summit for 2015 Everest SUV Debut

In the North American market, Ford dominates the SUV field with the popular Explorer SUV, a car-based crossover that has been a best seller since its introduction in 1990. Now, the American carmaker is looking to create the same type of reputation in Asia with a new Ranger-based SUV called the Everest. Ford recently used the Asia-Pacific Economy Cooperation (APEC) Summit as a venue for the 2015 Everest SUV debut, showcasing an all-new version that is sure to make an impact on the Asian market.

“The new Ford Everest is an exceptionally versatile vehicle, equally prepared for the everyday commute as it is for the most extreme off-road terrain,” said Dave Schoch, president of Ford Asia Pacific. “The Everest’s unique blend of tough capability and exceptional comfort is going to resonate with drivers across Asia Pacific and around the world.”

The SUV’s toughness is reflected in a rugged exterior design, which is at odds with its sophisticated interior, which combines innovative technologies and style to create a comfortable cabin. The appeal of this SUV is enhanced by its fun-to-drive performance, making it a great choice for any consumer.

While the 2015 Everest isn’t available in the States, Shults Ford of Harmarville offers plenty of SUV and crossover options to choose from. Stop in today to check out Ford’s utility vehicle lineup!

We Couldn’t Take Our Eyes off the Custom Ford Expeditions at the 2014 SEMA Show

Custom Ford Expeditions

The Ford booth at the 2014 SEMA Show was already hard to miss, what with its dozen pimped-out Mustangs and custom Transits. At Shults Ford though, it was the upgraded 2015 Expeditions that we couldn’t take our eyes off of.

Ford brought three unique custom Ford Expeditions, all worthy of attention. The first was tuned by Dub Magazine, riding on massive 26-inch Dropstar wheels with Pirelli tires and lowered suspension for a crazy-cool look. It also had a new mesh grille at the front, tinted windows, an integrated radar detector, and new upholstery to top it all off.

The second got a makeover by Tjin, who focused on the engine above all else. It brought the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 up 40 horsepower to a total of 405 hp by upgrading it with a charge cooler from Vortech Engineering, a custom side exhaust, and a custom tune. The SUV also got bigger brakes, an Air Lift suspension, and 24-inch, copper-colored wheels with custom fender flares—because, why not?

The final custom Ford Expedition was all about being prepared for the winter, according to Vaccar’s lead designer. It received a brush bar up front, swiveling hooks, and roof rack baskets from Yakima. Inside, the upholstery was redone in silver Ultra-Suede to give it the look and feel of a lodge. It sure looks cozy!

The Custom SEMA F-150: Which Version Do You Prefer?

Here at Shults Ford of Harmarville we didn’t think the new F-150 could get any better – until now. Ford recently revealed their Custom SEMA F-150, which consists of two different versions, both of which will soon premiere at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Trust us; they’re bound to make your jaw drop.

So what’s so special about the Custom SEMA F-150? The fine-tuned Deegan 38 and the Vaughn Gittin Jr. Street Truck prove you can do just about anything with the 2015 F-150. Both versions are competing for the “Hottest Truck” award, envied by designers everywhere.

The Deegan 38 was designed by Ford Racing’s Brian Deegan and features the all-new 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost engine and a redesigned body. New wheels and tires, suspension, and racing-level tuning are just a few of the added features on this custom pickup.

“This F-150 should inspire the vast off-road, extreme-lifestyle-loving fan base to push the possibilities of the new 2015 F-150 and the awesome 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine,” said Deegan.

The Vaughn Gittin Jr. Street Truck, built by the Formula DRIFT superstar of the same name, is less for off-road enthusiasts. Its lowered ride height and Air Lift Performance air ride make it perfect for the street. On top of that, its incredible torque will leave your knuckles white.

Either version of the Custom SEMA F-150 is bound to win the “Hottest Truck” Award, but we’re curious: which is your favorite?

The Ford ICON50 Campaign Encourages Adventure

Despite the fact the Ford Mustang is 50 years old this year, it is anything but an old geezer. The recently launched Ford ICON50 Campaign is stirring up America by encouraging people to be more adventurous. Here at Shults Ford of Harmarville we’re excited about the new campaign.

Ford reports that over 42% of American said they can’t remember the last time they tried something new. What does that mean? That people are losing their sense of adventure. Ford hopes to reverse that trend, though. The Ford Mustang is the epitome of adventure, demonstrating power and grace on the asphalt.

The Ford VP of Global Marketing, Sales and Service, Jim Farley, said, “For five decades, Mustang has represented some of the best of American popular culture, inspiring a feeling of freedom, independence and adventure. We are excited to celebrate the iconic Mustang and encourage fans to embrace its spirit of adventure and try new cultural experiences.”

The 2015 Ford Mustang features a powerful new 3.7-liter V-6 engine, which generates over 435 horsepower (nearly four times the ’64 Mustang’s V6). Drastic changes have been made to the handling and suspension, as well as the interior. For a full preview of the adventure Mustang has to offer, stop by Shults Ford of Harmarville.

New App Makes Owning A 2015 Ford Mustang Even Cooler

All of us likely have apps on our smartphones that are, well, useless. Maybe we used them once, momentarily mesmerized by the gleam of something new, and then promptly forgot about them. Ford has recently released an app for 2015 Ford Mustang owners that will really enhance the experience of owning the classic American sports car. Unlike a lot of apps, it should prove to be very useful.

There quite a few really cool features in the app. One simply directs you to the nearest drag strip. Another will enlighten you on the ins and outs of 50 years of Mustang history. You can test your Mustang knowledge with a trivia game, or select Mustang-themed wallpaper for your phone. And of course, there are custom Mustang ringtones.

There is also a section that will act like a digital owner’s manual. In this section, you can find information on maintenance and engine specs. It’ll help you make sense of the instrument panel and answer frequently asked questions that new Mustang owners often have.

Of course, the app is no good without the accompanying Mustang. So first things first – come to Shults Ford of Harmarville and check out our sweet Mustangs today!
