2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Picks Up IIHS Top Safety Pick

Mustang Mach-E | Shults Ford | Pittsburgh, PA

The multi-award-winning 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E has won top honors for everything from its exceptional range to its incredible power to its premium quality. And now, thanks to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the all-new Ford Mustang Mach-E has taken home one of the top honors for safety.

This spring, IIHS named the all-electric 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E one of its Top Safety Pick award-winners. This honor joins an ever-growing list of accolades that includes 2021 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™, Green Car Journal’s Green Car of the Year, and Edmunds’ Top-Rated Luxury Electric Vehicle.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E aced all six of the IIHS’ crashworthiness tests: driver- and passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. It also earned superior scores for crash prevention and a good score for the LED headlamps standard on the Mach-E Premium, GT, and First Edition.

IIHS honored the Mustang Mach-E in close proximity to the IIHS-affiliated Highway Loss Data Institute releasing the results of a study on electric vehicle safety. Per HLDI, statistics from 2011-2019 found that EVs have 40 percent lower injury claim rates than vehicles powered by traditional internal combustion engines.

The future is certainly looking bright with Ford thanks to its continuous push toward total electrification. The Mustang Mach-E will be soon joined by the E-Transit van and the incredible 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. If you’d like to test drive the Mustang Mach-E, contact the team at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We’ll put you behind the wheel and let you experience the future first-hand.

VIN 001 Ford Bronco, Mustang Mach 1 Raise $1.5M for Charity at Auction

2 Door Ford Bronco | Pittsburgh, PA

Earlier this spring, Ford trotted out the most exclusive versions of its hottest new vehicles for a pair of great causes. The VIN 001 Ford Bronco and Mustang Mach 1 went up on the block at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale Arizona. When the hammers fell, the duo commanded a whopping $1,575,000 — all of which went to charity.

The first production version of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 sold for $500,000 on the first night of the 021 Barrett-Jackson Auction Scottsdale. That half-million-dollar haul went to JDRF, the longtime Ford partner whose goal is finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Ford and JDRF have worked together for 35 years, and Ford has raised more than $70 million for the cause.

On Saturday, the rights to the VIN 001 2021 Ford Bronco were up for grabs. There was plenty of action among bidders, and when all was said and done, a certain lucky someone dropped $1 million on the first Ford Bronco two-door to roll off an assembly line in 25 years. All of that money will support the Bronco Wild Fund, which Ford hopes will raise $5 million for important environmental causes.

If you missed your chance to get the VIN 001 Ford Bronco two-door or Mustang Mach 1, fear not. The 2021 Mustang Mach 1 is arriving at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And the wait for the 2021 Ford Bronco is nearly at an end — it should begin arriving in our showroom this summer.

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is KBB’s Coolest Car Under $30K

2021 Ford Bronco Sport | Pittsburgh, PA

Every year, Kelley Blue Book puts together a list of the vehicles it deems the coolest thing since sliced bread. This year, the choice for No. 1 on the list of KBB’s Coolest Cars Under $30,000 couldn’t be anything but the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport.

It should come as little surprise that a big reason the Bronco Sport topped this year’s list was its substantial capabilities. With standard 4×4 and a Terrain Management System™ with G.O.A.T. Modes™, the Bronco Sport never has to get ready for adventure; it’s built into its DNA. That kind of eagerness for excitement — on top of a presentation that just flat out looks cool — put the Bronco Sport squarely atop KBB’s list.

“If you like to camp, bike, hike, or enjoy a day in the countryside, the Bronco Sport is one of the coolest ways to get there,” KBB writes.

And that is most certainly the truth. Every Bronco Sport can also be upgraded with a range of accessories that enhance its style and its capabilities. But the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport isn’t just cool because it can get out there and perform in the wild. It’s every bit as cool in the concrete jungle, delivering the style, comfort, and versatility drivers in Pittsburgh expect from Ford.

Is the Next-Gen Mustang Getting a New Windsor V8?

Is the Next-Gen Mustang Getting a New Windsor V8? | Shults Ford

Ford is planning to unleash its seventh-generation Ford Mustang within the next few years, and it might have a new trick up its sleeve. The next-gen Mustang could get an all-new Windsor V8, according to the head of Canada’s auto labor union.

After negotiating a new deal between his organization and Ford of Canada, Unifor President Jerry Dias revealed that the Windsor Engine plant will build a new 6.X-liter engine. He later spoke with the media and said he believes this engine will be a 6.8-liter V8 offered in the F-150 and Mustang.

According to Hagerty’s Sajeev Mehta, this could be a “de-stroked 7.3 Godzilla,” referring to the enormous pushrod 7.3-liter V8 offered with the new Super Duty. He suggests this would use aluminum rather than an iron block and overhead valves in place of overhead cams. In practical terms? This new Windsor V8 for the next-generation Mustang could be an absolute beast.

We have a while to wait before we figure out what’s in store. Ford will continue to make the current, sixth-generation Mustang through 2022, so there are still a few more years to enjoy the latest version of our beloved pony.

And it’s still going strong, too. Not only is the Shelby GT500 the most powerful street-legal car Ford has ever made, but the legendary automaker is bringing back the iconic Mustang Mach 1 in spring of 2021. Ford is also growing the Mustang stable with the Mach-E, the all-electric performance SUV available now at Shults Ford.

If you love the Mustang, Shults Ford Harmarville is your destination. Check out our selection of pony cars in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then give us a call to set up your experience behind the wheel of this all-American dream car.

Ford Pioneers Automated Valet Parking System

Ford Pioneers Automated Valet Parking System | Harmarville, PA

If you’ve ever struggled to park your vehicle before a fun outing in the city, you know how much of a hassle it can be. Fortunately, help just might be on the way. In a recent automated valet parking collaboration with two other companies, Ford showed how it’s working to make these kinds of headaches a thing of the past.

Ford teamed up with Bosch and Bedrock to display this new system in Detroit. The trial took place at Bedrock’s Assembly Garage, which was equipped with Bosch’s smart infrastructure tech. Ford contributed a specially equipped Escape SUV outfitted with vehicle-to-infrastructure, or V2I, communication capabilities.

To use this automated valet parking system, a driver simply drives the Escape to a marked spot in the garage. After exiting the vehicle, they use an app to automatically send the Escape to a parking space. Along the way, sensors placed throughout the garage steer the vehicle in the right direction — or stop it if a pedestrian or another vehicle gets in the way. This process is also used to retrieve the vehicle from its spot.

Ford noted that this system could eventually help garages use their space more efficiently — and help drivers save time and effort.

While V2I isn’t quite ready for production yet, it’s far from the only technology that Ford has developed to make your driving life easier. The Escape is currently available with Active Park Assist 2.0, a handy system that automatically steers the vehicle in and out of spaces for you.

To learn more about the Escape, Active Park Assist 2.0, and other great Ford offerings, stop in for a visit at Shults Ford of Harmarville in Pittsburgh.
