Ford Louisville Assembly Wins EPA Pollution Protection Award | Pittsburgh, PA

Ford Louisville Assembly Wins EPA Pollution Protection Award | Pittsburgh, PA

Louisville Assembly Plant, which builds the 2022 Ford Escape, recently earned the 2021 Pollution Protection Award from the EPA. This award from the Environmental Protection Agency recognizes the plant’s leadership in waste and pollution reduction.

The EPA recognized Louisville Assembly Plant in part for a new water recycling initiative. Since launching the program in 2020, the employee-developed program helped the plant use 5 million gallons less water from the city of Louisville.

Since Ford ramped up water conservation efforts in 2000, the automaker has helped save more than 12.5 billion gallons of water. The ultimate goal is to only use freshwater for human consumption.

“This award represents Ford’s commitment to make a positive contribution to the environment wherever possible. It isn’t just a win for the Louisville Assembly Plant, but also for our employees, UAW partners, and the entire Louisville community,” said Lisa Drake, chief operating officer, Ford North America.

Ford is committed to making a better planet for future generations by taking action now. It was the first automaker to sign the Better Climate Challenge, which aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 25 percent over the next decade.

Ford is also changing the landscape when it comes to vehicles. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of the most exciting EVs, bar none, and the upcoming F-150 Lightning promises to make electric vehicles a more popular and viable option than ever.

Ford Bronco, Maverick Earn 2022 NACTOY Awards

Ford Bronco | Pittsburgh, PA

For the second year in a row, Ford dominated the North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year™ awards. The 2022 Ford Maverick and Bronco earned top NACTOY honors, taking home the titles of Truck of the Year and Utility Vehicle of the Year, respectively.

Last year, Ford also ran these categories with the F-150 taking the top prize for pickups and Mustang Mach-E scoring the award for utility vehicles. Thanks to two of the hottest new Ford vehicles available today, Ford repeats an impressive feat and makes it look easy.

The 2022 Ford Maverick was a natural choice for North American Truck of the Year. It’s available at an impressive starting price, it’s the first truck to offer a standard hybrid engine, and it’s Built Ford Tough®. The Maverick is the kind of truck that even appeals to folks who have never owned a pickup before.

And, of course, the long-awaited and much-hyped Ford Bronco delivers by taking home 2022 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. The revived and revamped Bronco is incredibly off-road-ready thanks to standard 4×4 capabilities, two powerful engines, and a whole lot of options for customization. And things are only getting better this year with the launch of the Bronco Raptor and Bronco Everglades.

Want to see for yourself why the Bronco and Maverick earned Ford back-to-back double NACTOY honors? Check out our selection of new Ford Bronco SUVs and Ford Maverick trucks, then visit Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when you’re ready to go for a spin.

Ford Bronco Sport First to Use Recycled Ocean Plastic Component

Ford Bronco Sport | Pittsburgh, PA

Did you know that the new Ford Bronco Sport is the first vehicle in the world to use recycled ocean plastic for parts? The awesome off-road SUV boasts wiring harness clips made from discarded plastic fishing nets, helping reduce the amount of plastic pollution in the ocean.

“This is another example of Ford leading the charge on sustainability,” said Jim Buczkowski, vice president of research and Henry Ford technical fellow. “It is a strong example of circular economy, and while these clips are small, they are an important first step in our explorations to use recycled ocean plastics for additional parts in the future.”

The process of making the clips is quite a journey. First, partner DSM Engineering Materials fishes discarded nets from the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. This plastic waste is cleaned, dried, and turned into small pellets. The pellets are sent to supplier HellermannTyton so that they can be molded into the wiring harness clips.

These clips are then attached to the second-row seats to keep the wires for the SUV’s side-curtain airbags in place. It’s a relatively small part, but it’s a big leap for sustainability.

Ford released the Bronco Sport last year, and it’s been a smash hit ever since. If you love adventure and excitement—even in something like a grocery store run — check out the new Ford Bronco Sport at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

2022 Ford Bronco Adds New Eruption Green, Hot Pepper Red Colors

Ford Bronco | Shults Ford Harmarville

In case you missed it, the all-new Ford Bronco has erupted onto the scene as the red-hot must-have SUV of the year. Almost as if to drive that point home, the 2022 Ford Bronco is adding a pair of new colors: Eruption Green and Hot Pepper Red

Ford color and materials manager Barb Whalen explained that Eruption Green was chosen as a way to honor the Mallard Green hue offered on the original Bronco.

“Paint has a wonderful way of evolving because of technology. Eruption Green is a contemporary color, but there’s a connection with Bronco heritage. It’s evergreen-inspired, with yellow highlights that really tie it into nature,” she said.

Eruption Green and new Hot Pepper Red Metallic will be available across the 2022 Bronco two- and four-door lineup. They’ll replace Antimatter Blue, Lightning Blue Metallic, and Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, which will be retired after the 2021 model year.

Ford, State Farm Want to Help You Save Money on Insurance

Car Dealer & Couple | Pittsburgh, PA

Ford and State Farm teamed up to show the impact that driver-assist technology has on car insurance costs. The duo teamed up to exchange information over the past year that led to a 20 percent savings on rates for drivers with advanced driver-assistance systems.

By giving State Farm access to its Vehicle Build Data tool, the insurance provider was able to see how vehicles equipped with ADAS technologies tend to have fewer and less severe claims. State Farm then passed savings onto those drivers by lowering their rates.

“We’re finding solutions for the future by grounding everything in data, research and insights,” said State Farm Vice President of Operations Craig Isaacs. “What’s unique about this project is we’re not just looking at the make and model of a vehicle, but ultimately to the individual safety features on each vehicle.”

Ford strives to keep drivers safer with the new Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of technologies. Including features like Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and the Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Ford Co-Pilot360™ Technology is standard and available on a range of vehicles including the all-new F-150, Bronco Sport, and Mustang Mach-E.

Ford and State Farm will continue to expand its pilot for the insurance company’s customers who drive 2010 or newer Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury vehicles. If you want a new vehicle that works hard to keep you safer, check out the great selection of vehicles available at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
