The multi-award-winning 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E has won top honors for everything from its exceptional range to its incredible power to its premium quality. And now, thanks to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the all-new Ford Mustang Mach-E has taken home one of the top honors for safety.
This spring, IIHS named the all-electric 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E one of its Top Safety Pick award-winners. This honor joins an ever-growing list of accolades that includes 2021 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™, Green Car Journal’s Green Car of the Year, and Edmunds’ Top-Rated Luxury Electric Vehicle.
The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E aced all six of the IIHS’ crashworthiness tests: driver- and passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints. It also earned superior scores for crash prevention and a good score for the LED headlamps standard on the Mach-E Premium, GT, and First Edition.
IIHS honored the Mustang Mach-E in close proximity to the IIHS-affiliated Highway Loss Data Institute releasing the results of a study on electric vehicle safety. Per HLDI, statistics from 2011-2019 found that EVs have 40 percent lower injury claim rates than vehicles powered by traditional internal combustion engines.
The future is certainly looking bright with Ford thanks to its continuous push toward total electrification. The Mustang Mach-E will be soon joined by the E-Transit van and the incredible 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. If you’d like to test drive the Mustang Mach-E, contact the team at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We’ll put you behind the wheel and let you experience the future first-hand.
