Get to Know Ford Co-Pilot360™ Safety Technology

Ford Safety | Pittsburgh, PA

Today’s Ford truck and SUV lineup is all about giving drivers confidence, and a big part of that is Ford Co-Pilot360™ safety technology. This suite of advanced features grows by the year, giving you peace of mind by working to protect you and your family on the go.

Ford Co-Pilot360™ safety technology includes features such as

  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking: Notifies you when a frontal collision is likely. If you’re unable to respond fast enough, AEB applies the brakes to bring the vehicle to a sudden stop.
  • Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert: BLIS® provides a warning when there’s a vehicle in your blind spot or approaching from the side. Select Ford trucks and SUVs also extend coverage to your trailer for hassle-free towing
  • Active Park Assist 2.0: When you find that ideal parking spot, Active Park Assist 2.0 measures the space using cameras and sensors to ensure an optimal fit. Then, with the press of a button, the system automatically guides your vehicle into that spot, taking a lot of hassle out of parallel and perpendicular parking
  • BlueCruise: This all-new hands-free driving feature works on more than 130,000 miles of highways across North America. When you enter a Hands-Free Blue Zone, your Ford Expedition, F-150, F-150 Lightning, or Mustang Mach-E will notify you so that you can engage the system and take your hands off the steering wheel.

There are so many more features available that make Ford Co-Pilot360™ safety technology one of the best parts of today’s lineup. To learn more about how Ford is making your daily drive safer and easier, contact Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Ford Sponsor Our Students Program Making a Difference

Ford Sponsor Our Students Program | Pittsburgh, PA

Ford is driving the future with innovation, and that starts with making sure that there are people in place to make it happen. The Ford Sponsor Our Students program helps empower today’s high school students so that they can help enable the innovations of tomorrow.

Since the launch of the Sponsor Our Students program in April, more than 1,000 Ford and Lincoln dealerships around the country have committed to the mission. The goal is to help at least 5,000 students gain valuable on-the-job work-based experience with mentors, preparing them for the work they’d do if they chose to become a Ford certified technician.

“The average dealer will spend tens of thousands on a technician to be trained in a dealership over the course of 5-8 years,” said Frederiek Toney, vice president, Ford Customer Service Division. “This program and other Ford technician training programs help to reduce the time and cost associated with recruiting and training new hires.”

Ford expects that many Sponsor Our Students participants will go on to take part in the Automotive Career Exploration Program. Students who are hired by the dealerships that sponsor them can gain accelerated training as well as a 20% discount in the Rotunda Technician Tool Program.

Ford is building the future one person at a time. If you’re interested in learning more about career opportunities with Ford or the latest new vehicles coming to our showroom, contact the team at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Scores Top Spot in AAA Car Guide 2022

2022 Ford Mach-E | Pittsburgh, PA

The all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E has earned another major honor, picking up the No. 1 overall spot in the AAA Car Guide 2022. AAA’s experts call the Mustang Mach-E Premium eAWD “a phenomenon,” praising its range, fun performance, and abundant style.

The AAA Car Guide award is specifically for the 2021 Mustang Mach-E Premium eAWD, but the highlights apply to just about every version of the all-electric SUV. Ford equips the Mustang Mach-E with a stylish sensibility infused with pony car DNA and backs it up with exhilarating power. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is so much fun to drive, you might even forget that it makes zero emissions.

Another perk of the Ford Mustang Mach-E that may have you forgetting that it’s an EV is its incredible range. The updated Mustang Mach-E tops out at an EPA-estimated 314 miles of range, and Ford will likely only continue to find ways to make sure you get more mileage in 2023 and beyond.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is taking home a lot of awards hardware, and a lot of Americans are taking home the Mustang Mach-E. While the Mustang Mach-E is for all intents and purposes sold out, Shults Ford has limited inventory in Pittsburgh. Or if you want to wait before you pull the trigger, reach out to the team at Shults Ford Harmarville and we can help you reserve a 2023 model when they’re up for grabs.

Study Shows Electric Trucks Cut More Greenhouse Emissions

2022 Ford Mustang Mach-e | Pittsburgh, PA

If you’re concerned with the future of our planet, you’re probably doing your part to cut your carbon footprint. A new study from researchers at Ford and the University of Michigan finds that upgrading to electric trucks like the F-150 Lightning is a great way to cut emissions and make tomorrow greener.

U-M and Ford researchers found that replacing your internal-combustion-engine truck with a battery-electric pickup will cut the equivalent emissions of 74 metric tons of carbon dioxide over the vehicle’s lifetime. Spread that out over the more than 200,000 drivers who have reserved the all-new Ford F-150 Lightning, and we’re talking about a huge difference for our planet.

According to Max Woody, a research specialist at the Center for Sustainable Systems and one of the authors of the study, the savings per truck is significantly higher than other vehicle classes. Replacing a sedan with an EV saves up to 45 metric tons of CO2 equivalent over the vehicle’s lifetime, and replacing an SUV saves 56 metric tons.

“This study can help us to understand the potential impact of electrification from an emissions-reduction perspective, particularly as we introduce new electric vehicles, and how we can continue to accelerate our progress towards carbon neutrality. We’re proud to partner with U-M in this critical work,” said Cynthia Williams, global director of sustainability, homologation, and compliance at Ford.

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is here, and it’s a true wonder of innovation. Not only does this zero-emissions truck return up to 320 miles of EPA-estimated range, but it also delivers the power, capability, and toughness you expect from Ford.

Smart Tech Aids 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Towing

2022 Ford Lightning | Pittsburgh, PA

The all-new 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning can do it all — including big-time towing. If you’re still on the fence about whether an electric F-150 Lightning can do the job when you need it, Ford equips it with technology to ensure you can keep going without issues.

Long-distance towing in the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning comes naturally thanks to three features: Intelligent Range, FordPass™ Power My Trip, and Onboard Scales. These technologies work together to figure out how much weight your truck is trailering up to 10,000 pounds and determine how much real-world range your battery offers.

When you set a course, FordPass™ Power My Trip maps a route that includes stops at nearby charge points if you need to add extra range. Recharging is easy, too, thanks to the Ford BlueOval™ Charge Network, which includes more than 7,300 DC fast chargers.

“By giving customers the most accurate range assessments possible and the charge tools they need to tow reliably, we believe they’ll move past the myths about towing with an electric truck and embrace the value-added benefits F-150 Lightning provides,” said Ford F-150 Lightning Chief Engineer Linda Zhang. “As they get accustomed to how Intelligent Range and Power My Trip work, they’ll naturally adjust their routines — whether that’s stopping for lunch and a DC fast charge or finding a route that simplifies their drive.”

Ford is making it incredibly easy — and appealing — to go all-electric. Want to learn how you can get your hands on a red-hot 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning? Contact the experts at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Ford Louisville Assembly Wins EPA Pollution Protection Award | Pittsburgh, PA

Ford Louisville Assembly Wins EPA Pollution Protection Award | Pittsburgh, PA

Louisville Assembly Plant, which builds the 2022 Ford Escape, recently earned the 2021 Pollution Protection Award from the EPA. This award from the Environmental Protection Agency recognizes the plant’s leadership in waste and pollution reduction.

The EPA recognized Louisville Assembly Plant in part for a new water recycling initiative. Since launching the program in 2020, the employee-developed program helped the plant use 5 million gallons less water from the city of Louisville.

Since Ford ramped up water conservation efforts in 2000, the automaker has helped save more than 12.5 billion gallons of water. The ultimate goal is to only use freshwater for human consumption.

“This award represents Ford’s commitment to make a positive contribution to the environment wherever possible. It isn’t just a win for the Louisville Assembly Plant, but also for our employees, UAW partners, and the entire Louisville community,” said Lisa Drake, chief operating officer, Ford North America.

Ford is committed to making a better planet for future generations by taking action now. It was the first automaker to sign the Better Climate Challenge, which aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 25 percent over the next decade.

Ford is also changing the landscape when it comes to vehicles. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of the most exciting EVs, bar none, and the upcoming F-150 Lightning promises to make electric vehicles a more popular and viable option than ever.

Ford Bronco, Maverick Earn 2022 NACTOY Awards

For the second year in a row, Ford dominated the North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year™ awards. The 2022 Ford Maverick and Bronco earned top NACTOY honors, taking home the titles of Truck of the Year and Utility Vehicle of the Year, respectively.

Last year, Ford also ran these categories with the F-150 taking the top prize for pickups and Mustang Mach-E scoring the award for utility vehicles. Thanks to two of the hottest new Ford vehicles available today, Ford repeats an impressive feat and makes it look easy.

The 2022 Ford Maverick was a natural choice for North American Truck of the Year. It’s available at an impressive starting price, it’s the first truck to offer a standard hybrid engine, and it’s Built Ford Tough®. The Maverick is the kind of truck that even appeals to folks who have never owned a pickup before.

And, of course, the long-awaited and much-hyped Ford Bronco delivers by taking home 2022 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. Ford Bronco Sport First to Use Recycled Ocean Plastic Component

Ford Bronco Sport | Pittsburgh, PA

Did you know that the new Ford Bronco Sport is the first vehicle in the world to use recycled ocean plastic for parts? The awesome off-road SUV boasts wiring harness clips made from discarded plastic fishing nets, helping reduce the amount of plastic pollution in the ocean.

“This is another example of Ford leading the charge on sustainability,” said Jim Buczkowski, vice president of research and Henry Ford technical fellow. “It is a strong example of circular economy, and while these clips are small, they are an important first step in our explorations to use recycled ocean plastics for additional parts in the future.”

The process of making the clips is quite a journey. First, partner DSM Engineering Materials fishes discarded nets from the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. This plastic waste is cleaned, dried, and turned into small pellets. The pellets are sent to supplier HellermannTyton so that they can be molded into the wiring harness clips.

These clips are then attached to the second-row seats to keep the wires for the SUV’s side-curtain airbags in place. It’s a relatively small part, but it’s a big leap for sustainability.

Ford released the Bronco Sport last year, and it’s been a smash hit ever since. If you love adventure and excitement—even in something like a grocery store run — check out the new Ford Bronco Sport at Shults Ford Harmarville in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
